During the evening, Vanion and Doppleganger Valerie were able to rescue Valerie from Ethel’s underground Hag lair. In the process, they discovered a horribly burnt corpse, and her belongings rummaged through. Confusing emotions all around, Vanion ensured Valerie made it home safely.
Levinia kept an eye on Mask during the night, keeping him in her quarters.
Come morning, everyone set out to accomplish some daily goals (which included buying some nice new magical gear!). Barty went to the library to research the Lost Dragon Isles, ending the day learning of odd magical disturbances in the Verishar Sea.
Vanion visited Corbesant, the apprentice mapmaker, and inquired about the Lost Dragon Isles. Corbesant made a copy of his supposed map for Vanion, and informed Vanion that if anyone could find their way to the Dragon Isles, it would be Vadellic, famous halfling treasure hunter. Vanion spent time name-dropping him around turn but didn’t really turn up anything.
Jorvyn paid a visit to Vestidio’s last known place of residence, and was surprised to find him there! He asked after him about what’s going on, and Vestidio told him that the winds of change of blowing in his favor now, and he didn’t sound so sure that Torsten would arrive safely from his journey (it didn’t seem to concern Vestidio anyway). Jorvyn convinced him to fess up that he’s going to get his hands on someone he’s wanted to get his hands on for quite some time. He then began to pack his things, told Jorvyn that “it will hopefully all be over soon”, and jumped out the window into the alley below.
Levinia visited the Temple of Lathander, meeting with the High Priests. She convinced them to help make arrangements to contain Mask until word can reach Spellhaven’s Tenser’s Tower, so that mages can come and take Mask for safekeeping. The Priests gathered other priests and clerics from Temples throughout Crestguard, and moved Mask to the Temple basement.
Meanwhile, in the early evening, Levinia paid a visit to Alison and Theodore Bravarti, who were recovering in the Temple of Ilmater, nearby Crestguard’s Serenity Square. Ominously awaiting the awakening of Theodore, Levinia bode her time by the small fireplace in the room, which she convinced an acolyte to leave as she was “friends” of the Bravarti family. Levinia had incredibly moving and stern words with Theodore, deriving from him his motivations, showing him how little he means to Mask, and the gravity of what his greed has done for this world. She convinced him that once he has recovered, he will travel to Astryer, inform the King that the Gotthard family is innocent and it was the Bravarti’s embezzling money. In return, Levinia will ensure that Theodore and his wife are not executed. Shaking with fear and pale as a ghost, Theodore couldn’t help but agree to all of Levinia’s requests. Levinia left feeling proud for the Dire Bear Retreat, where she and her companions caught each other up on their daily doings.
